The Jessamine Place’s uniqueness is derived from providing one-on-one services ‘without walls’. The focus is on individual supports that are community based. Integration into the life and flow of a community provides extra supports from fellow neighbors and builds on relationships that are cultivated as people get to know people by their name and their personal interest. By helping people to become interconnected with other citizens in their community, we keep individuals healthier and safer.
It’s simple: We treat people like People First.

The culture at the Jessamine Place is based on the belief that we truly are our brother’s keeper. We are dedicated to quality services and supports to assist people to be more independent and to find their own voice. The belief that ‘every person has gifts and talents’ must be recognized as part of what drives our exploration into discovering or uncovering what each individual prefers for their own life.

At the Jessamine Place, we take it personally. There is no ‘cookie-cutter’ method that can be applied to fit the needs of every person. We are guided by the preference and choices made by the individual seeking services. We listen carefully to detect needs and desires so an individualized program of supports can be established. And more importantly, when needs change, we are actively willing to make the necessary adjustments for individuals. We will ‘try another way’. Being responsive to the needs of individuals is something we pride ourselves in doing and consider to be one of our greatest strengths.

We measure our achievements by the many lives that are improved through the work of a dedicated qualified staff that is laser focused on assisting people to live as independently as possible. People who once lived in an institution are now thriving in host homes and living as part of a family. We count as achievements, finding competitive employment for people who never held a paying job. In addition, people who ‘graduate’ and no longer need our services and achieve enough independence are ready to manage their lives without supports. Equally as important, we make it possible for families to stay together through providing needed respite. These are the achievements that means the most.

We have been providing services for over 45 years.
The Jessamine Place has been awarded national accreditation from The Council of Quality and Leadership for more than a decade.
